Stop gift orders going to the buyer's own address
Autofill quietly replaces the recipient with the person paying. Ship To Who asks who the gift is for, checks every order's shipping name against it, and holds the order before it leaves your shop.
In development. Not on the Shopify App Store yet.

The flowers arrive at the wrong door
Florists and gift shops describe it in Shopify's community forums: the buyer's own address lands on a gift order, and staff call customers to find out where it was meant to go.
Checkout fills in the buyer
The buyer types the recipient's name on your product page. At checkout, autofill, Shop Pay or PayPal offers their own saved address, and one tap replaces it.
The order looks normal
It's a real name at a real address, so nothing flags it. Merchants report that a review-your-address checkbox doesn't stop it.
You pay for it twice
A remade arrangement, a second delivery run and the phone calls in between.
How it works
Everything happens after the order is placed. Checkout stays exactly as it is.
-
Ask who it's for
A recipient form on your product and cart pages: gift or not, recipient name, phone and delivery type, with ward, room or building fields where they apply.
-
Check every order
When an order comes in, the recipient is compared with the shipping name. If the shipping name is the buyer's own, it's flagged.
-
Hold before dispatch
The order gets a Shopify fulfillment hold marked "incorrect address", and Shopify notifies you straight away.
-
Fix it in one form
Correct the address and recipient together, and the hold is released. Or mark it a false alarm and carry on.
Built not to get in your way
A tool that holds good orders gets switched off, so it holds as few as it can.
-
Holds only on the buyer's own name
Family gifts, nicknames and shared surnames are listed for review, not held.
-
Gives the buyer a second look
A recap for your order confirmation email shows the recipient beside the full shipping address, including apartment, ward and room.
-
Works with the fields you have
Already collecting recipients with another app? Point Ship To Who at that field.
-
Keeps recipient data briefly
Deleted within 60 days of the order at the latest, and at once if you uninstall.
Run the free pilot with us
We're looking for Shopify florists to try Ship To Who on real gift orders for four weeks and tell us what it gets right and wrong.
- What you get
- Free use during the pilot, setup on a 30-minute call, and a page showing what was caught and how often it was wrong.
- What we ask
- Mark each held order as fixed or a false alarm, and tell us about any wrong delivery it missed.
- What you need
- A Shopify store on an Online Store 2.0 theme that takes gift orders every week.
Or write to support@shiptowho.com with your store URL and roughly how many online orders you take a week.
Questions
Why do gift orders end up at the buyer's address?
The buyer types the recipient's details, then checkout fills itself in. Browser autofill, Shop Pay and PayPal all offer the buyer's own saved name and address, and one tap replaces what was typed. The order is valid, so nothing looks wrong until the delivery.
Does it slow down or block checkout?
No. Ship To Who checks the order after it is placed and never stops a customer from paying. The only change customers see is the recipient form on your product and cart pages.
Will it hold an order sent to Mom or to someone with the same surname?
No. An order is held only when the shipping name contains the buyer's own first and last name. Recipients like Mom, Grandma Jo or a same-surname family member are listed for you to review, not held.
What about Buy it now, Shop Pay and PayPal express buttons?
Those buttons skip the cart, so the recipient form never appears and there is nothing to compare. During the pilot we ask you to turn off dynamic checkout buttons on product pages. Orders that arrive without a recipient are counted, so you can see how many slip past.
I already collect hospital, ward and room details with another app.
Ship To Who can read the recipient field your current app already writes, so you don't need to replace your form to try it.
Can it catch the right name at the wrong street?
Not automatically. It compares names, and a correct name with a wrong address passes that check. The recap in your order confirmation email shows the buyer the full destination and asks them to reply straight away if anything is wrong.
What happens to recipient details?
They are stored only to check and fix orders, and deleted 30 days after the order is fulfilled or cancelled, or 60 days after it was placed, whichever comes first. Uninstalling deletes them immediately.
What does it cost?
The pilot is free. Pricing will be published before Ship To Who is on the Shopify App Store.
How often does it happen in your shop?
The pilot measures it on your real orders, free.
